| 8. | What is stacking ring? It is always in conjunction with Hub Printable disk. It refers to the small ridge around the inner plastic center ring on the disk. Its purpose is to keep the disks slightly separated when stacked on a spindle. Stacking ring is usually present on a standard disk. When a disk is to be hub printable, there is no stacking ring so that the printable surface can be applied all the way to the center hub. Also, for disks that are to be thermal printed, there is an advantage to not having a stacking ring. The stacking ring sticks up and interferes with the thermal printer head. Generally DVD calls as: 1 KB = 1000 Bytes, 1 MB = 1000 KB, 1 GB = 1000 MB Computer calls as: 1 KB = 1024 Bytes, 1 MB = 1024 KB, 1 GB = 1024 MB Therefore, with a PC, 4.7 GB = 4,7000,000,000 Bytes / 1,024 = 4,589,843 KB 4,589,843 KB / 1,024 = 4,482 MB 4,482 MB / 1,024 = 4,376 GB Which is nearly equal, 4.38 GB (a capacity shown will depend on the software) Both of them has quite same capacity but each of them has different unit, 1000 or 1024.
